外媒報道，Toyota 正在研發更強大的 PHEV 插電式混合系統，透過更大的電池組搭配電動馬達，使純電續航力至少達到 200 公里。相比目前市面上普遍落在 100 公里左右的 PHEV，這樣的續航里程更加貼近日常純電行駛的需求。同時，Toyota 在 PHEV 領域經驗豐富，其旗下的 Prius Prime 不斷更新換代，且其引擎、電動馬達、波箱以及電池組之間的配合越備受國際用家肯定。Prius Prime 更具備優異的性能表現，0-100km/h 加速僅需 6.7 秒。

目前，Toyota 尚未公布新一代 PHEV 插電式混合動力的具體規格，但原廠透露，這款動力系統將使駕駛者感受到如同擁有一輛沒有里程焦慮的電動車，同時價格也會比電動車更親民。屆時，引擎方面也不排除運用 5 月亮相的新世代引擎。

Currently, Toyota has not announced the specific specifications of the new generation PHEV system. However, the manufacturer has revealed that this powertrain will provide drivers with the experience of owning an electric car without range anxiety, while being more affordable than electric vehicles. It is also hinted that the engine might incorporate new generation technology introduced in May.
