Despite the continuous growth in electric vehicle (EV) sales, the growth rate has not been as significant as before due to various unfavorable factors. According to a recent survey in the United States, over 60% of respondents indicated that they are "unlikely or very unlikely" to purchase an electric vehicle, although they have a more open attitude toward hybrid vehicles.

The American Automobile Association (AAA) conducted a survey on the willingness of people to purchase electric vehicles. The results showed that in 2022, 51% of respondents stated they were "unlikely or very unlikely" to buy an EV. This percentage increased to 53% in 2023 and reached 63% in 2024, marking a three-year high. Meanwhile, the proportion of those who said they are "likely or very likely" to buy an EV dropped from 25% in 2022 to 18% in 2024.

The hesitation toward electric vehicles stems from several factors: high purchase costs, range anxiety, and a lack of charging infrastructure. Additionally, 30% of respondents mentioned that they cannot install charging facilities where they live, making it impossible for them to consider buying an EV.

Greg Brannon, AAA’s Director of Automotive Research, stated that early adopters of electric vehicles already own these cars. However, those who have not yet adopted EVs consider factors such as practicality, cost, convenience, and ownership experience, which are significant barriers preventing them from switching to pure electric vehicles.
